Planting a Microforest at West LA College
Saturday, March 8, 2025: North East Trees, in partnership with West LA College, is proud to be part of an exciting Microforest Planting Day on Saturday, March 8th!
Students, staff, and community members will come together to plant seeds, transplant tree saplings, and native shrubs across a 12,600-square-foot space—creating a vibrant urban microforest that will grow into a thriving ecosystem for generations to come!
What is a Microforest?
Also known as pocket, mini, or tiny forests, urban microforests use the Miyawaki Method, a special planting technique that mimics natural forests to restore biodiversity.
By planting these fire-resilient native species, we’re not just creating a greener campus—we’re building a stronger, healthier environment for everyone.
NET is proud to partner with Seed to Landscape and the Los Angeles Community College District to bring this vital project to life!
